Thermostat Install Standard

Test the Existing Thermostat

Test the existing thermostat to make sure heat and cool are working properly. If you find an issue with the HVAC system mark your work ticket incomplete, and notify the property staff that the issue needs to be resolved before we can complete the work.

Turn Off the Break

Always be sure to turn off the breaker before carefully removing the old thermostat. This will prevent the HVAC system from blowing a fuse.

Take a Picture of the Old Thermostat Wiring

By using the picture as a reference, you can ensure that you have wired the new thermostat correctly.

Install Thermostat

After you have removed the existing thermostat, you can begin by installing the backplate of the new thermostat. Mount the backplate using the mounting material that came with the box. Once it is level, wire the thermostat using the picture you took earlier as a reference.

Turn on the Breaker

Once the wiring is complete, and you have connected the thermostat to the backplate, turn on the breaker.

Thermostat System Setup

Follow the directions in the installation manual to set up the thermostat for the first time. This information can include, and is not limited to, date, time, HVAC type, zwave pairing, and etc.

Pair the Thermostat to the Dwelo Hub

Once the thermostat is set up pair it to our Dwelo Hub. Check to make sure the thermostat is following your commands in the Installer App.

Pairing Two Thermostats in a Unit

Always pair both smart thermostats in the unit.  The first thermostat you pair will be the only thermostat that will respond to zwave commands in the residents’ Dwelo app.  Instructions on which thermostat to pair first will be in your work ticket notes.

What Success Looks Like

Your end objective is to leave the unit with the thermostat fully functional (as long as you found the thermostat working upon arrival). Heat and cool should be working flawlessly, and the thermostat should be responding to the Installer App commands before you can move on to your next job.
